Barbara Boxer makes official she will not be running, and the jockeying for who will run in her stead in 2016 is now on.
Boxer made the announcement in a video with her grandson, Zach, that was sent to supporters Thursday morning. Boxer said that neither her age nor the fighting in the Senate played any role in her decision, and she will continue working on the issues that matter most to her through her political action committee. She also vowed to make sure she is succeeded by a progressive candidate in 2016.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is seen as one of the early frontrunners to capture the nomination, Rep. Jackie Speier is also a consideration
Some of the replacements getting attention beyond Garcetti:
John Chiang - Newly elected state treasurer, Georgetown law. He won a convincing state wide race with 55%, and in an off year even in California that isn't bad.
Kamala Harris, Attorney General.
Outsider: Tom Steyer, the man who was behind the NextGen PAC and environmental work has been rumored to consider the thought of jumping in.. I can't see this actually happening though.
